Owning a Sea-doo Spark Watercraft means embracing fun and adventure on the water. However, these bad boys are not cheap purchases. And like any expensive item, taking care of them is a must to get the bang out of your buck.

To ensure your watercraft remains in optimal condition, regular maintenance is crucial. Here are five easy maintenance tips to keep your Sea-doo Spark running smoothly and extend its lifespan.

  • Regular Cleaning and Flushing

  • After every ride, especially in saltwater, it’s important to clean and flush your Sea-doo Spark. This is to remove salt, sand, and debris that can cause corrosion and damage to the engine.

To flush the engine, connect a garden hose to the flush port and run fresh water through the engine for approximately two minutes. Keep a close eye on the engine and make sure it’s running to prevent water from backing up into cylinders.

When cleaning the exterior, rinse the exterior with fresh water and use a mild detergent to any stubborn dirt. Dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and apply marine wax for added protection.

  • Check and Change Engine Oil

  • Checking and changing the engine oil regularly is crucial to ensure the longevity of your Sea-Doo Spark’s engine. When checking the oil level, use a dipstick and ensure it is within the recommended range. Low oil levels can lead to engine damage. For oil change, follow the manufacturer’s guidelines, typically using high-quality oil and changing the oil every 50 hours of use or at least once a year.

  • Inspect Jet Pump

  • The jet pump is a crucial component of your Sea-Doo Spark, and keeping it in good condition ensures optimal performance. Regularly check the jet pump for any debris, damage, or wear. Clear any obstructions that could affect performance. Then, lubricate the jet pump bearings as per the manufacturer’s recommendations to prevent wear and tear.

  • Battery Maintenance

  •  A well-maintained battery is essential for the reliable operation of your Sea-Doo Spark. Make sure to keep the batter charged, especially during the off season. We recommend using a marine battery charger to maintain an optimal charge level. Additionally, inspect the battery terminals for corrosion. Then, clean with a mixture of baking soda and water if needed and apply a terminal protector to prevent future corrosion.
  • Proper Storage

  • Prepare your Sea-Doo Spark properly for storage, especially during the off-season. This helps prevent damage and ensures it’s ready for use when the season begins. There are three things you can do for storage preparation:
    • Add a fuel stabilizer to the tank to prevent the fuel from breaking down and causing engine problems.
    • Apply fogging oil to the engine to protect it from moisture and corrosion.
    • Use a breathable cover to protect your watercraft from dust, debris, and UV damage while in storage.

    Bonus Tip: Body Washers Replacement

As part of your maintenance routine, you might find it necessary to replace body washers on your Sea-doo Spark or Trixx. Body washers help secure various components and can wear out over time, leading to potential issues.

Regular maintenance not only prolongs the life of your watercraft but also enhances safety and performance, giving you peace of mind on every ride.
