Why Make Your Own Dice Tower?

There may be a lot of dice towers already up for grabs in the market, however, creating your own means you’ve got the freedom to customize and be creative with it, and it’s more affordable. Not to mention it’s a learning experience as it challenges you to incorporate the science behind dice towers that ensure fairness in dice rolling.

Again, if at any moment you realize that maybe DIY Dice Towers are more suited for other people, Wilbur’s Finest offers high-quality 3D printed Dice Towers. We’ve got five designs to choose from, perfect for gamers who want to skip the work and level up instantly.

Materials You’ll Need

  • Cardboard
  • Cutter
  • Wood
  • Glue
  • Paint

Steps to Create Your Own Basic Dice Tower

For the first three steps, we will use a video tutorial by Cardboard Cleric as a reference. This video is easy to understand and clearly shows what to do without being overwhelming for someone to follow.

1. Choose your design

First thing to do is decide on your design. Following the video, we will be creating a simple design that is easy to build. However, if you plan to level up, feel free to think of a theme or style.

2. Plan and sketch

Then, plan and sketch how it should look so you have a guide as you're making it. In the video, another video reference was shown that demonstrates how the dice will roll when they’re dropped into the dice tower.

3. Cut and assemble the frame

Based on your plan and sketch, cut out the base, walls, and ramps from your cardboard, wood, or any chosen material. As shown in the video, make sure to angle the ramps for smooth and fair rolling, and leave enough spacing for the dice to pass through.

After cutting all the parts, assemble them using glue. Let them completely dry before moving on to the next step. Like in the video, you may want to use something heavy to hold them together while they dry.

Once everything is set, you can skip straight to Step 5. If you decided on a fun theme and style earlier, move on to Step 4.

4. Decorate your tower

Now onto the fun part—decorate your tower! You can start painting or adding embellishments according to your plan and sketch to match your gaming setup or favorite theme. Some creative ideas include fantasy, minimalist finishes, pop-culture-related designs, and many more!

5. Test your dice tower

Time to test your dice tower and see if it works properly. Check its functionality and make adjustments if necessary. If everything looks good, grab your favorite tabletop game and start playing!

When making your own dice tower, make sure it’s durable by reinforcing joints or sealing them with a protective coat. Aside from that, we recommend experimenting with unique materials like acrylic, or adding fun features like lights. And again, if you’re short on time or simply want a ready-made dice tower, Wilbur’s Finest got you covered.
